GUYS! we have the support of Joe Lidster! If you don’t know who he is, he’s the guy who writes all the things on John’s and Sherlock’s sites!

Exact links: 1, 2.

(by the way just wondering, is it possible to give each photo its own clickthrough link?)

There is a woman standing in front of a wall in London. She’s pretty—very—but dressed rather plainly. The way she stands, though, indicates that she isn’t generally this plain; she holds herself as though she wears evening dress all the time. She might be wearing a dowdy dress, jeans and a t-shirt, or nothing at all, and she would probably have exactly the same regal posture. Perhaps she walks that way, but no one nearby can tell, because she hasn’t moved for quite some while.

No, the pretty-plain-proud woman has just been standing very still and surveying a brick wall. It’s a rather normal wall, tan bricks falling apart a bit, just like you’d find anywhere in London. There’s graffiti on it, reds and whites and yellows and greens and blues and blacks, some fading, some covered, some chipping, some newer.

Among the newest layer of paint are several scrawled words. It is these words that the woman’s eyes are tracing right now, these words she has been staring at for quite some time.

——

I believe in Sherlock Holmes

Moriarty was REAL

I trust John Watson

Rich Brook is a lie

Believe in Sherlock

The legend of the Consulting Detective

BELIEVE SHERLOCK

——

A smile flits across the woman’s lips and she lifts her phone, brushing her thumb across a button and watching it save a picture. Then, turning away, she scrolls through her contacts and finds a number she hasn’t used for a while.

Her fingers tap the screen as she walks, typing out a quick message. Her eyes scan it a couple of times, checking, before she hits send and turns the corner, disappearing into the crowd.

You’re not dead. Let’s have dinner.

I just found it.  I don’t know who wrote it.
John?
(Incidentally, if there ever was graffiti on the wall, it’s gone as of 1430 18/01.)

Operation 221B

The Believe In Sherlock Holmes campaign continues this week. Posters, pamphlets, and signs marking support and trust in the late Consulting Detective have spread throughout the London area and beyond. But one place, until now, has been naked of such support. 221B Baker Street, the home of the late Sherlock Holmes and his friend John Watson, has been neglected by the supporters of Sherlock Holmes.

Reasons why, no one can quite be sure. Perhaps it is to mark it as a memorial, or supporters are worried of drawing too much attention to the now famous door. While it is unknown if Dr. John Watson has returned to the flat, members of the “Holmesless Network” wanted him to know that they, and thousands of others, support and trust him.

——————————————————-
Note: Yes, that is the real door used in Sherlock. No, 221B is not the real address, those are just mad photoshop skillz. We did not leave the posters up there, of course. The owner of Speedy’s thought it was brilliant, and he watched us. We put them up with blue-tack, so there is no damage, and we took them down after photographs (though some bystanders and fans snapped pictures in the interim haha).

So… I guess you all have heard/read/seen the news. It’s been pretty hard to miss it - the death of Sherlock Holmes. I’m gutted but I’m doing my best to keep it together. I don’t know about you guys, but I refuse to believe it. That he was a fraud. He just can’t have been, can’t have! I saw him at a crime scene once, I had followed the sound of sirens in hope it’d be one of his cases, and there is NO WAY he was a fake. You can’t make that sort of shit up, he was too good! He was an inspiration for all of us to be more observant in our every day lives, and I won’t accept the so called truth about Sherlock that is all over the media. I know you feel like I do, and now it’s our turn to show that we haven’t lost faith in him. Sherlock might be gone, but I won’t sit silent!

#BELIEVEINSHERLOCK

Imagine being a Sherlock fan in the show universe. You’ve been following John’s blog, stalking Sherlock a bit at crime scenes, try to be within earshot so you can hear him do his deductions. You’ve got cutouts from the papers. Then the news reach you. What do you do? Some would believe the papers, but not everyone would buy it. And they would do what they could to clear his name.

This is my take on what I would like to propose as a tribute campaign, to show our love and support. Yes, in real life. We put ourselves in the mindset of the in-show fans, and we take a Bad Wolf/Who Killed Amanda Palmer twist on it. Guerilla art/campaigning. (Not sure if everyone is familiar with WKAP. Palmer is an american artist who in order to promote her album told her fans to spread rumours about her death through street art. I can’t seem find any of it documented online though I’m afraid)

Let’s scribble in bathroom stalls, back of bus seats, lamp posts. I won’t tell anyone to do anything illegal, but graffiti like in the pictures would be amazing. Paint on t-shirts, make buttons, go to the beach and write in the sand. Take photos of what you’ve done, put on twitter or tumblr and tag it!

suggestions of things to write:

  • I believe in Sherlock Holmes
  • Moriarty was real
  • Richard Brook = FRAUD
  • No doubt, Sherlock! (instead of no shit)

And feel free to come up with your own stuff!

Using digital media and spray paint is relevant to this chapter of the fandom. Why repeat what the original fandom did, when we can do something that is unique to us?

(I suggest you just grab an old t-shirt and slap some paint on it, but in case you’re not able to do that, I took the text from the two examples here and put them on a couple of shirts)

PLEASE SPREAD AND REBLOG!
